2022 Oscar Predictions

The Oscars are now less than a week away and The Academy has made the controversial decision to not present all 23 categories live. I am against this decision, but I still have fun making predictions so I thought I’d share mine for this year.

Here is a link to all of this year’s nominations: https://www.oscars.org/oscars/ceremonies/2022. I still have not seen The Worst Person in the World or Parallel Mothers yet.

I also want to underline how criminal it is that C’mon C’mon was not nominated for anything. And I’m rooting for The Mitchells vs The Machines on that Animated Feature Oscar.

Top 10 Movies of 2021

2021 was definitely a busy year for movies. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to see any of the Foreign Language films currently in Oscar contention like Parallel Mothers, Drive My Car, The Worst Person in the World, or Petite Maman.

Honorable mentions go to Spencer, Passing, Luca, Shiva Baby, and Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go for It.

Well, 2021 passed by in a blink of an eye and 2022 may end up being an exciting year for movies. I am waiting to see the Tragedy of Macbeth before posting my Top 10 of 2021, but that will be coming soon! Also, you may see some repeats from my Most Anticipated of 2021 post as release dates were shuffled once again due to the pandemic. Here’s hoping that all these films listed below are actually released this year.

Most Anticipated Movies of 2021

Hopefully, in 2021 things will start going back to normal, but it will be a slow process. Cinemas are still mostly closed around the world, so a lot of these movies will be seen at home. And as many of you know, a lot of 2020 movies were pushed back to 2021 and 2022, so some films that were on my Most Anticipated Movies of 2020 list will re-appear here.

First up, here are some honorable mentions: Black Widow, Eternals, Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go for It, Blonde, Don’t Look Up, and Encanto

Top 10 Movies of 2020

2020 is finally over! It’s been quite the year to say the least. A lot of movies were pushed back, so my top 10 list this year consists of some smaller fair. I also haven’t had the chance to fully review each movie on this list now that I have a full time job, so I will provide a mini-review for those.

First up, here’s some Honorable Mentions: The Glorias, Wolfwalkers, and Palm Springs

2020 Oscar Predictions

This year’s Oscars are less than a month away and with the nominations announced I decided to share who I think will win the golden statues this year. I will only be covering a few of the major categories. As of now, I have not seen these films nominated in acting categories: Bombshell, Harriet, Judy, Richard Jewell, and The Two Popes.

Here is a link for the full list of nominations, but I have listed the nominations for categories I am covering.

Let’s begin.

Top 10 of 2019

2019 has been over for a while now, but now that I’ve seen 1917 which is competing in the Oscars this year, I can finally release my Top 10 list. 2019 was truly a great year for film and I hope that 2020 and beyond will be even more diverse both in front of and behind the camera, and that we continue to support original films and new voices. Keep in mind, I cannot see every new movie released and there are some 2019 movies I have not reviewed.

2020 is year and with it comes another promising year of films. I’m particularly excited since there are a great number of women-led films both in front of and behind the camera in 2020. Since it’s early in the year, none of the smaller, independent films are really known until the Sundance Film Festival later this month, so this list will mainly be bigger films. I will also do a Top 10 of 2019 list, but that won’t be up until I have seen 1917, which is a major awards contender this year.

So here is what I’m most looking forward to at the moment for the upcoming year with some honorable mentions that go out to Godzilla vs. Kong, Eternals, and Bob’s Burgers who didn’t quite make the list.
