Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar centers on best friends Barb (Annie Mumolo) and Star (Kristen Wiig) as they vacation in a beach town that is plotted to be destroyed by an evil villain (also played by Kristen Wiig).
Soul follows Joe Gardener (Jaime Foxx), a band teacher, who is finally getting the big gig he has been waiting for. But later that day, Joe gets into an accident and dies. His soul travels to the Great Beyond, but he escapes to the Great Before as he is not ready to die. He teams up with another soul, named 22 (Tina Fey), in order to try to get back to his life on Earth.
Larry David stars in Curb Your Enthusiasm, a show that parodies his everyday life. Larry often finds himself in some sort of shenanigans, most of the time which is the fault of his own ego.
BoJack Horseman has finally ended. The series began in 2014 and followed a cartoon horse named BoJack (Will Arnett), a washed up celebrity from a 90s sitcom, who after many years is ready to re-establish himself in Hollywood.
2019 has been over for a while now, but now that I’ve seen 1917 which is competing in the Oscars this year, I can finally release my Top 10 list. 2019 was truly a great year for film and I hope that 2020 and beyond will be even more diverse both in front of and behind the camera, and that we continue to support original films and new voices. Keep in mind, I cannot see every new movie released and there are some 2019 movies I have not reviewed.
Jumanji: The Next Level follows Spencer (Alex Wolff), Fridge (Ser’Darius Blain), Martha (Morgan Turner), and Britney (Madison Iseman) during their winter break of their freshman year in college. Spencer, who is struggling more than his friends in college life, decides to go back into the Jumanji game to re-gain some confidence as Dr. Bravestone (Dwayne Johnson). However, the game glitches and Spencer’s grandfather (Danny DeVito) and his friend (Danny Glvoer) find themselves stuck in the game.
Knives Out is the latest film from Rian Johnson. It is a murder mystery that has some political undertones. The film stars Ana de Armas, Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Jaime Lee Curtis, Toni Collette among many others.
Jojo Rabbit is a satire about a young boy nicknamed “Jojo” (Roman Griffith Davis), who is a lonely boy in the Hitler Youth who often converses with his imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi). However, he finds out that his mother (Scarlett Johannson) is hiding a Jewish girl and is conflicted on what to do about her.
Hustlers is based on a true story about a group of strippers who scam their Wall Street clients out of their money. Destiny (Constance Wu) is a new stripper who is struggling to make ends meet, however once she sees Ramona’s (Jennifer Lopez) act, she goes to her for advice that ends with Ramona taking her under her wing.
