2021 was definitely a busy year for movies. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to see any of the Foreign Language films currently in Oscar contention like Parallel Mothers, Drive My Car, The Worst Person in the World, or Petite Maman.

Honorable mentions go to Spencer, Passing, Luca, Shiva Baby, and Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go for It.

Most Anticipated Movies of 2022

Well, 2021 passed by in a blink of an eye and 2022 may end up being an exciting year for movies. I am waiting to see the Tragedy of Macbeth before posting my Top 10 of 2021, but that will be coming soon! Also, you may see some repeats from my Most Anticipated of 2021 post as release dates were shuffled once again due to the pandemic. Here’s hoping that all these films listed below are actually released this year.

Dune (2021)

Dune follows the Atreides family as they move to the desert planet of Arrakis and take over spice production due to the decree of the Emperor. Paul (Timothée Chalamet) begins to have visions as the move to Arrakis grows closer and suspects that he may be the one to fulfill the prophesy created by the Bene Gesserit, a group of women who have the power to influence people obey their commands. Meanwhile, the Harkonnen are plotting to take back control of Arrakis and spice production.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) is living a normal life with his best friend, Katy (Awkwafina), when his past suddenly comes back to haunt him. He is reunited with his father, Wenwu, (Tony Leung) and his sister, Xialing (Meng’er Zhang). Shang-Chi struggles to pick whether to side with his father on his delusional quest or to go against him.

Most Anticipated Movies of 2021

Hopefully, in 2021 things will start going back to normal, but it will be a slow process. Cinemas are still mostly closed around the world, so a lot of these movies will be seen at home. And as many of you know, a lot of 2020 movies were pushed back to 2021 and 2022, so some films that were on my Most Anticipated Movies of 2020 list will re-appear here.
