Ralph Breaks the Internet is the sequel to Wreck It Ralph and surrounds Ralph and Venellope as the travel to and try to navigate the internet to find a piece for Venellope’s game so that her game isn’t scrapped.

Ralph Breaks the Internet is a worthy sequel that really puts Ralph and Venellope’s friendship at the forefront. It may not be as good as its predecessor, but it was still really enjoyable, especially to those who are internet savvy.

Sarah Silverman and John C. Reilly have great rapport and chemistry together. There’s tons of new characters, including Taraji P Henson as Yesss and Gal Gadot as Shank. Both gave terrific voice performances. There’s ton of Disney Easter eggs in there properties of Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. The Disney Princesses also had a great scene in the film.

The message of the film is what really brings the movie home. More centered around Venellope than Ralph this time around, we get to see how much she thrives in the internet and her struggle with the normalcy and predictability with her game life. And while she loves Ralph, this is the place she wants to be. Speaking of the arcade though, many of those characters are sidelined in this film and I wish we could have seen a bit more of them. Though with the abundance of references in the film, I could see why they weren’t featured more heavily because it may have felt like too much.

Overall, Ralph Breaks the Internet is a sweet tale about friendship and serves as a bit of commentary about the internet and internet culture. I give it a B+
