Incredibles 2 picks up immediately after its predecessor, with the Parr family fighting crime. Superheroes are still illegal though, so in an effort to legalize superheroes, Elastigirl is now in the spotlight leaving Mr. Incredible to stay home with his kids, Violet, Dash, and Jack Jack, who are all going through some sort of trouble.

It took 14 years for everyone to get Incredibles 2 and its a worthy sequel. The animation is beautiful as always when it comes to Pixar. And I was very impressed with a lot of action sequences involving Elastigirl. Kudos to director Brad Bird for still coming up with inventive ways to showcase superpowers.

The voice cast has all returned and is great. But I must say that Jack Jack stole this movie with all his different baby superpower madness. You also get the return of characters you know and love with Frozone and Edna Mode. The new characters are also a fine,  they don’t get much to do at all, because this movie’s main focus is on Elastigirl and the Parr family first and foremost.

I did think the villain was sub par, but Syndrome was such a good villain from the first Incredibles. I also thought it was fairly obvious to guess who the villain is actually revealed to be. The story itself wasn’t anything new, just a gender reversal of the first film.

Overall, Incredibles 2 brings back all the fun and joy of the first film. It’s great to have the Parr family back and I’m interested to see if we’ll get an Incredibles 3 because this sequel absolutely crushed the box office with 180 million its first weekend, though hopefully that movie won’t take another 14 years to make. I give this film a B+

  1. Very worthy effort I really enjoyed this film. Difficult to top the first one but still something definitely worth going out of your way to see. Great write up!
